Anime Limited to bring Hakuoki to Android and iOS in the UK
Many readers might already be familiar with the Hakuoki series, one of the largest Otome games available since 2008, as it’s been available on PS3 and 3DS previously but now it makes its way to Android and iOS.
Anime Limited, in conjunction with Japan, will be bringing the visual novel to the UK from 31st March, 2015 (today!) where you can purchase either the Standard Edition or Premium Edition. The Standard Edition will see you purchase each new story for £2.99 as you progress, whilst the Premium Edition will come with all fifteen chapters for £20.99 on iPhone or £18.20 on Android devices. Completing the game unlocks a new chapter created exclusively for the UK release of Hakuoki, and it’ll be a free chapter with both editions. The bonus chapter includes newly recorded Japanese dialogue, CG events and six new characters, making it a must have for fans.
So, you might be wondering what Otome actually is and they’re games designed for a female audience – not that it stopped me from playing Hakuoki on PS3 – and are visual novels that allow you to play as multiple characters and shapre their individual stories. From my experience with Hakuoki, which I’ve yet to finish, you play as a young woman looking for her father but sees brutal acts she wasn’t supposed to, but she has her life spared by the Shinsengumi – the choices you make may lead to a blossoming, loving relationship with a choice out of the many men presented.
You’ll need to have iOS 5.1.1 or Android OS 2.3 or up to be able to play Hakuoki which you can buy right now. We hope to have a review up for Hakuoki in the coming weeks so keep an eye out for it if you aren’t sold yet!
