Atlus and NIS America to bring Lost Dimension overseas

Lost Dimension, an RPG and visual-novel hybrid, is heading West courtesy of Atlus and NIS America unless, well, they decide to stab us in the back.

Lost Dimension follows Sho Kasugai and the organisation he works with, S.E.A.L.E.D., as they fight to stop a guy known as “The End” from destroying the world. If that isn’t interesting enough then the gameplay might get you going instead! It plays like an SRPG, similar to Valkyria Chronicles by the looks of it, and the visual novel elements remind me of Danganronpa but differentiate in that your decisions have greater consequences.

There’ll be traitors in your group that change with each playthrough, meaning you can’t look to others for help, and during the “Judgement” section of Lost Dimension, you’ll be tasked with picking out the traitor and having them eliminated; if you make a wrong choice then you won’t be able to do over, you’ll just have killed an innocent teammate. You’ll be doing this multiple times but you’ll get hints as to who the traitor is via Sho’s unique ability, Vision, to look into the future, the thoughts of your allies and to interrogate them. The traitors that survive until the end will then make themselves known and will fight against you alongside the final boss.

The developer, Lancarse, is behind the Etrian Odyssey series with the story penned by Jun Kumagai who is best known for writing the Persona 3 movie scripts as well as some of the Persona 4 Animation episodes; this explains the slight Shin Megami Tensei feel that it gives off, although I’m still getting strong Danganronpa vibes!

NIS America will handle the European release whilst Atlus handles the North American release, and Lost Dimension has reviewed well in Japan which adds to the excitement that I already have for the game. Lost Dimension is slated to release this Summer on both PS3 and Vita.

Spread the love!
