Awesome Games Done Quick 2021 raises nearly $3 million for charity

The charity speedrunning event Awesome Games Done Quick 2021 concluded over the weekend, raising an impressive amount of money for Prevent Cancer Foundation.

With donations totalling $2,758,847 (roughly £2 million), it was another successful year for the event, which had to move online this year due to the ongoing pandemic.

Games Done Quick has now raised more that $31 million in total, bringing many entertaining runs over the past 11 years.

Videos of every speedrun that took place last week can be found on the GDQ YouTube account. At the very least, you should check out the first world record of AGDQ 2021, flying fox’s run of Sonic 1; and Bubzia’s blindfolded Mario 64 speedrun.

Following on from Awesome Games Done Quick 2021 will be Summer Games Done Quick 2021, though there’s currently no date for the event. It’ll likely be online only too, though this clearly wont be a problem if last week’s event is any indication.
