As a cheeky little April Fool’s stunt Sega released the 8-Bit Bayonetta onto Steam for free, hinting that this was just the tip of the iceberg. Those hoping this meant a Bayonetta Steam release with imminent were correct, and we couldn’t be more pleased that’s the case! Bayonetta is out now on Steam, for the bargain price of £14.99.
The Bayonetta Steam version is the “Digital Deluxe Edition”, which comes with a digital art book and an OST sampler. It comes with full controller support (and a warning in the description advising it’s best played with one), Steam Achievements, Steam Trading Cards, and Steam Cloud support.
Bayonetta boasts 60fps on PC, and “unlocked HD resolutions”. The Xbox 360 and Wii U releases of the game also hit 60fps, with the notably disappointing PS3 release hitting more like 30fps most of the time. The version will likely run smoother more often, according to reports, though we haven’t tried it yet ourselves.
There’s been no news on Bayonetta 2 coming to PC, but due to it being funded by Nintendo, it may never happen. In either case, it’d be a bit of a crime for the stunning sequel to be forever Wii U exclusive. Perhaps the Switch will answer some wishes itself soon…
Bayonetta Steam joins the ranks of Metal Gear Rising, Transformers Devastation, and The Legend of Korra as Platinum Games’ Steam showing — with Nier: Automata, where they worked on the combat. That still leaves a fair few games un-ported. Given that Bayonetta was a collaboration with Sega, that still leaves their Sega titles up in the air as very possible Steam releases. These were:
– Madworld (Wii)
– Infinite Space (DS)
– Bayonetta (Xbox 360, PS3 (later Wii U and Steam))
– Vanquish (Xbox 360, PS3)
– Anarchy Reigns (Xbox 360, Ps3)
I know in my heart that Vanquish will be next. PLEASE PLATINUM AND SEGA ANSWERS MY PRAYERS AT LAST.
Bayonetta PC is finally here, so what are you waiting for? Grab it already! It’s out right now!
