Indie Otome Cafe Rouge Gets a Gorgeous Makeover for Steam

Cafe Rouge was originally released as a free online game in 2012 and proved extremely popular with over 4 million plays. The game was released in seven parts and is currently going through a makeover for Steam, and CloudNovel as a remaster. Players may think the game’s updated art style looks familiar. This is due to the artist having worked for both otome industry giants Rejet and Otomate! With breath-taking new illustrations and characters designs alongside an original and intriguing story, this is one to keep your eyes on.

The story revolves around average American teenager Isis Black (changeable name) who applies for a job at Café Rouge. Nothing seems unusual until night falls, where the quiet cafe transforms into a thriving and bustling five star theatrical restaurant. In this haunted world, Isis must investigate its mysteries, navigating between potential friends and foes. What path lies ahead of her?

Creator Sonya Fung’s latest update confirms that chapters 1 to 5 have been released, with a planned full game release date of July 1st. The game will be the visual novel engine CloudNovel’s first commercial game as free to play but with in game purchase options. Show some love and support for the game on its Kickstarter page, and get a taster of this original story on CloudNovel right now in your browser with its demo!
