Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles hits 1 million worldwide shipments

Sega has announced that Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles has now shipped one million copies worldwide across PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.

It’s an impressive number, though not overly surprising considering the continued popularity of the anime adaption.

Demon Slayer: The Hinokami Chronicles received a generally positive reception from critics and fans, though it wasn’t universally praised — even our own Trent and Conor had varying opinions on the game.

In an attempt to improve Hinokami Chronicles’ meagre initial roster, Sega has announced multiple free updates that will add a number of playable demons. The first update, planned for release between later October and early November, is set to include Rui and Akaza of the Twelve Kizuki.

Considering that you fight both of them during the story mode (and other notable demons too), not having them be playable from the start was an odd choice.
