From Software Reveal That A Demon’s Souls Remaster Is Possible

I’m borderline obsessed with the Souls franchise, having essentially consumed (read as survived) all of the games and loved every moment. I’m excited about Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice in March, and it looks absolutely incredible, but I’m still sitting here waiting for a Demon’s Souls remaster to come along.

We were blessed with the (mostly) incredible Dark Souls Remastered last year, which made the ability to git gud available on the go with Nintendo Switch, and I always thought that From Software’s first macabre dark fantasy epic deserved a comeback. So, I practically screamed when Gameinformer asked From Software President Hidetaka Miyazaki about the possibility of a Demon’s Souls remaster during their recent interviews about the studio’s upcoming title.

They found out that Miyazaki thinks it’s possible, it’s not something he’s personally interested in. Quoting him as saying:

“It’s like when you write – when you’re younger, you look back on [previous work] and you think ‘Oh, goodness what was I thinking,’” he says. “It’s not that I’m embarrassed, I just don’t like to look at my previous works.”

He goes on to say that he wouldn’t be averse to having another studio work on it, as long as it were a studio that “really loved the original work and really put their heart and soul into realising it again” also saying that he “understand[s] there are many users and many players and fans out there who really love Demon’s, so if that’s something they could accomplish with a studio that loved the work, then yeah, [he would] be okay with that.”

So, it’s looking like a Demon’s Souls remaster could potentially be on the cards and, as I named it on my list of games that should be remastered, you could say that I want it to exist already. But what do you think? Would you play a Demon’s Souls remaster? Are you looking forward to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice? Let us know in the comments, or on Twitter and Facebook, and check back for more coverage of this and other Japanese titles!
