Digital PSP games will remain on the Vita and PS3 stores

Sony left it until the very last second, but it has finally confirmed that, yes, digital PSP games will still be available for purchase after the changes being implemented today.

While Sony’s initial wording was vague, the PlayStation “important notices” page has been updated to state that “You’ll still be able to purchase and play PSP content that is available on the PS3 and PS Vita stores.”

PSP store full closure

All that’s really changing is that PlayStation Store functionality is now being fully removed from the PSP — buying DLC in-game will no longer be possible, and the search function will no longer work.

Of course, there’s still the threat of closure for both the PS3 and Vita stores. Sony may have backtracked on their immediate closure this year, but it’s likely that it will try again in a few years time.
