Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Preview – 6v1 is Lots of Fun!
This isn’t the first Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 preview I’ve written but I got hands on with it again with a build that’s packed in plenty of content from the full release – I got the chance to explore the new Conton City, play story and side-missions and try out the new 6v1 mode that’s new to the series.
We’ve already covered how the play games before so I won’t go too into detail on how battles play out, but this time we got to get with more than just battles against the AI. The new world hub – Conton City – is seven times larger than Toki Toki City and allows you to teleport to other areas such as other character’s homes and training places. I’ve yet to explore the entire city but I’m loving what I’ve seen so far and I’m vastly preferring it to Toki Toki City which felt dull in comparison – Conton City is bright, colourful and populated, and it really does capture the spirit of Dragon Ball. Seeing other players and how they’ve created their characters is something I find enjoyable, too – almost as much as seeing the massive Shenron floating around the city!
I’ve spoken about how the game plays before and how it’s a tighter, smoother experience over the first Xenoverse, and the 6v1 battles are new and bring a greater challenge than anything offered in its predecessor. I got to fight against Great Ape Vegeta along with 5 computer-controlled AI and whilst I managed to beat him in the end with Future Gohan, he gave me a couple of beatings beforehand! Not only does he have several life bars and a shield that need to be destroyed to actually inflict damage (it regenerates, too), but he’s super powerful, has large range and takes no issue in knocking down several characters at once. Remembering to revive your allies by simply approaching them and locking onto them will go a far way as it doesn’t take much at all to find yourself incapacitated.
Other than that I got to play a few story and side-missions and Xenoverse 2 is following in the footsteps of the first game with its time shenanigans. You’re a Time Patroller who’s sent to the past to ensure that events play out as remembered as Towa, the villainess from Xenoverse, is back with formidable allies who are trying to change history. I got to play through some of the series’ earliest fights such as Goku and Piccolo vs Raditz and the Z Fighters battling against Great Ape Vegeta – this time though, Nappa also has Great Ape powers! It’s exciting to be able to play through the legendary stories that I’ve been familiar with as a child but with a fresh twist on them, and I’m looking forward to playing more as I was becoming quickly engrossed!
