Towards the tail end of Square Enix‘s Dragon Quest 35th anniversary stream, Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate, the latest entry in the franchise, was revealed.

Details are currently scarce, with initial reveal trailer showing nothing more than the game’s logo.

There were mentions of the traditional turn-based battle system seeing some changes, though Square Enix will likely not want to stray too far from the style of gameplay that fans expect.

Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate is going to receive a simultaneous worldwide release — welcome news, considering the year-long wait for Dragon Quest XI — but no exact dates were given.

The existence of XII has been known for a little while now, with series creator Yuji Horii mentioning the game on Twitter earlier this year.
