Eastward launches September 16, timed Switch console exclusive
It’s been many years since its initial reveal, but the adventure game Eastward by Shanghai-based developer Pixpil is almost here.
Releasing on September 16 for $24.99 / £21.99 / €24.99 (there’s currently a 10% pre-order discount, lowing it to £19.79), Eastward will initially be available on Switch and PC via Steam. The Switch release was introduced as a timed console exclusive during Nintendo’s Indie World showcase, meaning that it might launch on other platforms at a later date.
The game details the journey of John and Sam, an unlikely duo that want to explore the world — a world that has fallen into ruin due to a deadly toxin destroying everything in its way.
In an accompanying blog post, publisher Chucklefish mentions that further work has gone into Eastward based on impressions from recent gameplay previews. A discussion with composer Joel Corelitz is also planned for a later date.
