Etrian Mystery Dungeon 2 & Collector’s Edition Announced

Oh, you were expecting maybe Etrian Odyssey VI? Well, you know what, Etrian Mystery Dungeon is fun too — and was a bit of a surprise hit when it released in 2015. Not that we expected less from the pairing of the JRPG lords of Atlus and the Mystery Dungeon maestros at Spike Chunsoft (which is also how Persona Q came about).

As well as their other news, Atlus also announced as part of their special celebration stream that Etrian Mystery Dungeon 2 is coming, and is an actual thing.

It looks like what you would expect from a Mystery Dungeon style take on Etrian Odyssey, in much the same way the first Etrian Mystery Dunegon was, just looking a bit more polished. In addition, the trailer above introduces new classes — the pirate, monk, alchemist, kenkaku (a swordsman warrior class), and a farmer.

A 9,800 yen box of goodies will release as Etrian Mystery Dungeon 2‘s collector’s edition, and to celebrate Etrian Odyssey‘s 10th anniversary (the first game released on DS back in 2007 in Japan and North America). That about £70 in our money at time of writing, but our economy has been pretty chaotic recently so who knows what that will be when you read this? It’s about $90 USD if that makes it any easier for you.

It comes with the game in a pretty big box. Is that it? Of course not. The main centrepiece here is the very hefty 200 page artbook!

Etrian Mystery Dungeon 2 is releasing for Nintendo 3DS in Japan on 3rd August 2017. No western release date has currently been announced, but the game itself has only just been announced.

Spread the love!
