EVO 2017 Line-Up Announced – ARMS Could Be at EVO

The EVO 2017 line-up has been announced, and it’s feeling pretty fresh! Well, most of the line-up has been announced. This time around the ninth game is being left to the players to decide from a vote. But first, let’s take a look at the games that our champions will be duking it out in come July.

There’s still two slots for both Smash Bros. games again, but it kind of makes sense as they are basically completely different communities. It’s also nice to see both BlazBlue and Guilty Gear represented with their most recent releases, CENTRALFICTION and the upcoming Rev 2.

A further 9 games have a chance at filling that 9th slot, with the vote being done through a charity IndieGoGo. There are some pretty interesting options, including even the recently announced Nintendo Switch elastic-arms fighter, ARMS. You can vote here.

Even though there are some curveballs in the player’s choice category, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Killer Instinct already have a pretty big lead, with $3500 and $3000 respectively. Both of those games were represented at EVO 2016, so it’d be nice to see something a bit more interesting come from the player’s choice. But, as is the nature of player’s choice.

While all of the player’s choice selections are good, it’d be super cool to see Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, ARMS, Windjammers, or Nidhogg make the cut. I’ve been saying for years they should do some crazy fun ones too, but it looks like they’re going for games that are actually legit. I won’t be satisfied until we get an EVO with either Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kasi, or Jurassic Park: Warcry — with fight sticks. To this day I’ve never managed to get two fight sticks working on Teras Kasi at once, but we’ll see if we can workaround that.

What do you think of the line-up? Let us know!

Spread the love!
