Fantasy Life Online shutting down in Japan next month
After more than three years, Level 5 has announced that the Japanese version of Fantasy Life Online will be shutting down later this year.
It’s no longer possible to buy any items (premium currency will be refunded after service ends), and the game will go offline on December 15, 2021.
Mobile games ending service isn’t exactly uncommon — in fact, Fantasy Life Online lasting more than a few years is actually pretty good compared to many modern mobile titles. However, it does add some uncertainty to the upcoming global launch.
The global release will likely still happen (publisher Boltrend has a habit of releasing titles that aren’t doing well in Japan), but it likely wont have a long life now that support is ending in Japan.
