Farnia Village launched by key Rune Factory 3 and 4 staff
A Kickstarter campaign has begun for life-sim RPG Farnia Village, featuring a number of key staff members from Rune Factory 3 and 4.
Farnia Village will be directed by Shinichi Manabe, who also directed Rune Factory 4. He’s joined by Takanori Tsuji, writer on Rune Factory 3 and 4.
The game follows a familiar setup to the Rune Factory series, letting you play as an amnesiac protagonist as they start a new life farming and fighting while getting to know their fellow villagers. Farnia Village features romance as you’d expect, though in this game’s case you can actually toggle the option for romance per (romanceable) character.
According to the FAQ, Farnia Village will be in development for around 3 years, assuming there are no complications. It’ll also be PC-only at launch, though console support is being considered — Manabe mentions that the game is optimised to run on hardware comparable to the Switch.
As always with crowdfunding, treat any money going in as a donation rather than an investment. The base goal of 5 million Yen (around £24,812) is quite low, and even taking into account the final goal being higher it’s still not a lot considering the multiple developers and artists working on Farnia Village.
