Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker delayed by 2 weeks

Final Fantasy XIV‘s upcoming expansion, Endwalker, has received a last minute delay, and will now launch on December 7, 2021, with early access starting December 3.

According to producer Naoki Yoshida’s statement, adjusting the game “down to the smallest nuances” ended up cutting into time needed for final quality assurance checks.

While the release date change was done to make sure the entire expansion is ready at launch, Yoshida was still apologetic for the delay: “Once more I would like to convey my sincerest apologies for the inconvenience caused to our players and colleagues due to my own shortcomings. I sincerely apologize for this decision.”

A final Endwalker launch trailer was revealed alongside the delay announcement — if you’re avoiding spoilers, then this is definitely not a video you should watch.

Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker is looking to be the largest content drop for Square Enix’s MMORPG since the original launch of A Realm Reborn, wrapping up a storyline that’s been in the making for over eight years.
