Fire Emblem Heroes April Update Brings Hero Merit and New Battle Types

The Fire Emblem Heroes April update has a lot in store, with plenty of new features along with some tweaks to the current stuff! There have been hints at some other interesting things further down the line too, such as a new item that can be equipped to expand Hero abilities, and an event where you won’t be able to revive allies who fall in battle.

As far as new features go, a really useful one is Hero Merit. Heroes will earn Hero Merit by participating in battles, which can then be used to get Hero Feathers when you have enough! This will be very helpful for raising units to a higher star rating!

Inherit Skills and Merge Allies are getting some changes. You’ll be able to keep an inherited skill after using a unit as the source for Merge Allies. So, if you have a Marth who’s inherited Sol, and you then merge him with another, the resulting Marth will also have Sol.

Two new rule sets will be added: Defence and ‘Reinforcements! Some battles will see you win by defending for a set number of turns, and others will have enemy reinforcements appear on the map. Like in the main series games, this a really good way of changing up the type of battle!

Arena scores and match setups will also be undergoing some changes. Players are currently matched using the total base stats numbers of their team, but will be matched in future based on a combination of the following:

– Character levels and star rating

– Equipped skills

– The number of bonuses gained by using Merge Allies

– Total base stats after all skill effects – including those from weapons – are removed

This will help match players with opponents of a similar strength, as well as slightly increase the score gained on all difficulty settings.

A couple of display tweaks will also take place, adding a brief description to the season’s bonus heroes in Arena, and automatically displaying the game’s notifications once a day.

Finally, the Grand Hero Battle schedule until the end of May has been detailed:

– 24th March – Michalis: Ambitious King

– Early April – Navarre: Scarlet Sword

– Late April – Zephiel: The Liberator

– Early May – Xander: Paragon Knight

– Late May – Lloyd: White Wolf
