GameCube Controller is Switch Compatible Using Adapter
If you’re still not ready to give up on the GameCube controller, you’re in luck! Using the adapter that made it compatible with the Wii U, it turns out the GameCube controller is Switch compatible as well thanks to the 4.0 update. GameXplain’s video sums it up nicely:
There’s a lot of potential with this discovery! The fact that the GameCube controller is Switch compatible could mean a few things about the Switch’s currently non-existent Virtual Console. Seeing GameCube games become available on Switch would be wonderful, and the technology’s all there for them to work out!
Of course, there are benefits to the GameCube controller working with the Switch outside of it inspiring hope for a Virtual Console too! It won’t run out of battery, and you’re now able to mistakenly create your own difficulty settings by playing Switch games without the full controls and the buttons in different places! It would be pretty amusing to see someone play Breath of the Wild this way, all things considered. Who doesn’t love a challenge though?!
