Gawr Gura is now the most subscribed VTuber of all time

Hololive EN‘s smol shark VTuber Gawr Gura has reached 2.98 million subscribers on YouTube, surpassing the previous record set by Kizuna AI.

The first generation of English Hololive VTubers have seen explosive growth since their debut late last year, with each member currently above 1 million subscribers. Of course, Gura’s popularity in particular has been especially noticeable, having managed to hit the 1 million sub milestone in just over a month.

At her current pace, Gura could potentially hit 3 million subs by the end of the week, breaking another record for VTubers.

Some recent highlights include her first solo song, Reflect, and the various interactions with fellow Hololive English member Amelia Watson.

English Vtubers have continued to see success over the last year, with Hololive, Nijisanji, and more recruiting new generations of English members — we’ll likely see many of them debut during 2021.
