Horror game Devotion goes DRM-free, two years after being delisted from Steam

Taiwanese developer Red Candle Games has set up their own digital store, which currently sells DRM-free versions of its two horror games, Detention and Devotion.

This is the first time that the former has been available for purchase in two years, after it was delisted from Steam. Said removal happened due to controversy in China surrounding a hidden meme directed at the country’s president, Xi Jinping.

Devotion was initially going to be released DRM-free last year via GOG, but was suddenly cancelled due to “many messages from gamers“. Considering that the majority of comments support the game and its developer, this was probably not the actual reason for its cancellation.

It is currently unknown whether Devotion will eventually return to Steam (Detention is still available, having never been removed), either through another publisher or Red Candle Games directly. Still, having any way to support the game and the developer is more than welcome.
