Junji Ito Anime Collection Receives Lots of New Details
Lots of juicy new details have been released about the upcoming Junji Ito anime collection! Named Juni Ito: Collection, the official website also revealed key art, staff details, and a date the show will premiere — the quite soon date of 7th January 2018.
For those who don’t know, Junji Ito is a master of the horror manga genre. He’s written many famous horror short stories, including The Enigma of Amigara Fault and Tomie; as well as long form horror such as the well-known Umazaki, and Gyo.
The above key art is illustrated by the show’s character designer and director Shinobu Tagashira (director, Diabolik Lovers). The anime will be adapting short stories from both Junji Ito Masterpiece Collection, and Fragments of Horror, though specifically which stories will be adapted has yet to be announced.
While the site notes that the characters in the key art may or may not appear in the series, they are from (left to right) “Fashion Model”, “Oshikiri Idan”, “Tomie”, “Sōichi”, “Shibito no Koiwazurai”, and “Slug Girl”.
Joining Shinibu Tagashira will be Kaoru Sawada (Diamond Daydreams) as scriptwriter, Hozumi Gōda (Akame ga Kill) as sound director, and Yuuki Hayashi (My Hero Academia) as composer.
Junji Ito: Collection will begin airing 7th January 2018.
