Kaz Hirai Steps Down as Sony President and CEO
The legendary Kaz Hirai is stepping down from being Sony’s President and CEO, and you’ll likely know him for one or two things. One, is that he brought Sony back to being a profitable company and helped to make PlayStation the powerhouse it is today, and two, is because of RIIIIIIIDGE RACER!
Kaz Hirai’s impact at Sony, and in gaming as a whole, cannot be understated. He put Sony back on track and they’re currently leading the console market by a large margin with no signs of slowing down, and so the groundwork has been paved for successor Kenichiro Yoshida. I’m sure he’ll do a great job, but it is sad seeing Kaz Hirai step back. The two have worked together very closely for several years, so it shouldn’t be too drastic of a change.
Kaz Hirai will be staying at Sony as Director and Chairman, and who can blame him for wanting a little less responsibility after all the hard work he has put in? Good luck to the pair of them and Sony, and I’m looking forward to what’s next for the company.
