Koei Tecmo Announce Slew of Titles for the West
Koei Tecmo have confirmed their Tokyo Game Show 2016 line-up, and have also confirmed and announced many titles for a western release in 2017. These include Nights of Azure 2, Toukiden 2, Atelier Firis, and now Samurai Warriors: Sanada Maru (Working Title).
Koei Tecmo will be showing more information about these games and other titles such as Beserk and Nioh at the Tokyo Games Show 2016 which takes place next week, so keep an eye out for more details coming soon.
It’s great to see Gust continuing to grow as a studio and especially to see them gaining more of a foothold in the west with a confirmation not only of the expected western release of Atelier Firis, but also of Nights of Azure 2, the sequel to their great new IP from last year. Now we just hope to find out more about their new new IP Blue Reflection!
It’s also nice to see Toukiden 2 confirmed for a western release. We really enjoyed Toukiden: Kiwami, the remake of the first game from last year. While it came out in Japan at the end of July, it’s still nice to see this one coming out, as it’s probably the premier monster hunting game on PlayStation at the moment.
And as you know we quite like a good Warriors game over here, so it’s exciting to see some of the Warriors spin-off titles getting western consideration. Samurai Warriors: Sanada Maru is the Japanese title of the game, though it looks like they might change it over here. Sanada Maru is the name of a famous fort attached to Osaka, well-known for being “impregnable”.
This spin-off title focuses on the Sanada clan responsible for Sanada Maru, and reuses the engine from Samurai Warriors 4, which we also loved. What will they rename this one? Samurai Warriors: Unbreakable? Samurai Warriors: Indestructible? Samurai Warriors: Crushing It? You know where to send the check, KT.
That’s a lot to look forward to! We can’t wait to get some more chunky details on all of these in the near future!
