Koei Tecmo Attack on Titan Game Announced

ATLUS’ Attack on Titan: Humanity in Chains for 3DS, the series’ most recent game, wasn’t very well received. But could a Koei Tecmo Attack on Titan be better? Given how well Koei Tecmo and Omega Force have treated their versions of other franchises, from One Piece to Hyrule Warriors — expectation is definitely high. The unnamed game will release in winter in Japan, with an expected 2016 release for the west.

This will be the first Attack on Titan game to not be a handheld exclusive, releasing on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita. All that’s been released so far about the game is the teaser trailer below. It doesn’t even have a name yet.

It’s currently unclear as to how Omega Force will fit Attack on Titan into their Warriors formula, but it could be something of a reversal of the formula, lots of units you control taking on a small number of Titans. Add in some element of base building, and maybe some resource management / recon, and it could be a great concept for an Attack on Titan game.

“I am very happy to reveal we have started developing a new action game based on the phenomenally successful “Attack on Titan”! Having evolved from a manga/anime series to an internationally recognised brand, we were enchanted by the opportunity to create our own take on humanity’s last stand against these overwhelmingly powerful beings, the Titans.

Although there is still a long wait until this game is released in 2016, our studios are already pouring all of their passion and excitement into it and we hope to reveal more information soon! In the meantime, prepare for battle! The Titans are coming.”

– Hisashi Koinuma, President of Koei Tecmo Games and head of the “Attack on Titan” game project

We can’t wait to hear more. If anyone can pull out a great Attack on Titan game, my money’s on Koei Tecmo.

Spread the love!
