A new bow-toting hero, Kate Bishop, is coming to Marvel’s Avengers in a free update on December 8, 2020. Originally intended to release in October, as well as the new playable character the update includes a time travel themed operation: Taking Aim.
This mission will begin a two-part storyline which shall conclude in early 2021 with Clint Barton (Hawkeye) becoming a playable character. That seems like it could lead to some awkwardness, since traditionally Kate’s alias is also Hawkeye.
It’ll be interesting to see if the two upcoming archer Avengers play sufficiently differently. In the introductory video below, it looks like Kate Bishop has some sort of teleport ability, so I guess that’s a good start.
No doubt Square Enix will be looking to win new customers with its upcoming free DLC, after the game’s poor early performance. Which, and I’m not trying to be mean here, does make me wonder why they’ve picked two variants of the famously boring Hawkeye as the first new Avengers to add to the team. They couldn’t have gone for Black Panther or something?
