Max’s Top 5 Moments of E3 2018

E3 always has its highs and lows, but there’s lots to be excited about this year, even for someone as picky as me! So, in no particular order, here are my top 5 moments of E3 2018! Well, my top 5 most hype games of E3 2018, more accurately.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses

Max's Top 5 Moments of E3 2018

Surprising no one, I am supremely excited about Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Sure, it’s a little disappointing to have to wait until spring next year, but the game looks stunning. I’m so excited to have properly-proportioned battle sprites back and the new character designs are lovely! The addition of background units in battle to make combat feel more large-scale is a neat touch too. Come on, Fire Emblem! I’m ready for war! I’m ready for Edelgard!

Death Stranding

Max's Top 5 Moments of E3 2018

I still don’t understand what’s going on with Death Stranding, but I love it. We may not have seen a whole lot of gameplay, but what’s there is interesting and the setting blows me away. I adore the game’s atmosphere from what we’ve seen so far and I’m very eager to see more of it and begin to unravel its madness. I probably won’t understand it even by playing it, but that’s ok with me.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Max's Top 5 Moments of E3 2018

I’m really happy to see some old favourites returning in the new Smash, not to mention all the DLC characters from the previous one too. Most of all though, I’m super excited about the addition of Ridley! I think Smash on the Switch is going to be an amazing experience too, so I look forward to trying it out!

Kingdom Hearts III

Max's Top 5 Moments of E3 2018

It’s been 3000 years… Ok, it’s only been about 13 (hmmm….) but that’s long enough and I am so, so excited that Kingdom Hearts III is finally, possibly, maybe on the horizon at last. Though my hype levels are only going to keep intensifying as we inch closer to the release date (and I desperately try to catch up on what I’ve missed in the world of Kingdom Hearts), I will only be able to breath a sigh of relief when it is finally in my hand. Until that moment, I’ll stay dubious that it’s coming out at all. I’m very interested to see what other worlds we’ll be getting and I’ll still be futilely crossing my fingers for a Treasure Planet one until the end.

Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition

Max's Top 5 Moments of E3 2018

At long last! As someone who missed out on Tales of Vesperia on XBox 360, I am supremely excited to see it coming west on other platforms, and with the additions from the Japan-only PS3 port included! I’ve been so eager to get more involved with Tales of Vesperia than just the OVA, and now I’ll be able to! This is one of those games that I already know will be good and I’m excited to finally see why it’s one of the most popular Tales games firsthand. It’s nice to see Tales of Vesperia bringing the Tales series to Switch now too, which is something I’d like to see continue. Can we maybe have a Switch version of Tales of the Abyss too, please?
