Medabots Classics 3DS Includes Enhanced First Five Games, & I Will Cry if it Doesn’t Make it West

To celebrate 20 years of Medabots, a Medabots Classics 3DS game has been announced. The title will collect together the first five games in the series and endow them with various enhancements and extra features. It’ll be releasing 21st December 2017 in Japan, and probably won’t make it west.

If you don’t know what Medabots is, then I recommend going to check out the anime right now. It’s a great series about kids battling with robots — with classic themes of friendship and justice, but also some deeper themes about what it means to have a soul. The games are RPGs that involve robot battles with a heavy emphasis on collecting and customising “medaparts”.

The first five games originally came out on Game Boy Color. The games will also have some extra features: a new game plus that lets you replay the game with whatever medaparts you want, a “meda-album” for cataloguing parts across the games, the ability to save wherever you want, the option to skip any battles you don’t want to play, and a whole host of multiplayer options from local and online battles, to part trading.

Medabots Classics will come in either Kabuto or Kuwagata versions (Metabee or Rokusho, basically), but there will be a Limited Edition that will include both.

Now’s the point in the post where I let you know that, hey, it’s not very likely that Medabots Classics will make it west. All we’ve had from Medabots video game-wise over here were Medabots Metabee & Rokusho Versions on GBA, Medabots AX Metabee & Rokusho Versions also on GBA, and Medabots Infinity on GameCube. These were all in the early 2000s, when the anime was moderately popular.

Medabots Classics will be releasing on Nintendo 3DS on 21st December 2017

Spread the love!
