Monster Rancher 1 and 2 DX global tournament announced

Koei Tecmo has revealed that it’s planning a global tournament for the upcoming Monster Rancher 1 and 2 DX collection.

“Monster Koushien World Battle” will bring the long-running Monster Rancher tournament series outside of Japan for the first time, letting players pit their raised monsters against each other.

The tournament will not involve any direct PvP matches — only the Switch version supports local PvP — instead making use of the data uploading feature to fight against copies of other people’s monsters.

Executive producer Kazumi Fujita has stated that he has “always dreamed of running a worldwide tournament”, and that he’s “very excited to see this dream become a reality!” Hopefully it’ll be a success, so more can be held globally in the future.

Monster Rancher 1 and 2 DX will release in the west for Switch, PC via Steam, and mobile on December 9, 2021.
