Neptunia Re;Birth games, Death end re;Quest: Code Z no longer releasing on Switch due to “Nintendo Guidelines”

After the western Switch releases of Neptunia Re;Birth 1, 2 Sisters Generation, and 3 V Generation were all indefinitely delayed back in May, Idea Factory International has now announced that they’ve been cancelled.

In addition, the Switch launch of Death end re;Quest: Code Z, which was set to arrive alongside the PS4 and PS5 versions in 2025, has also been cancelled in North America and Europe.

According to Idea Factory International, all four releases have been cancelled due to “contents of the Re;Birth series and Death end re;Quest: Code Z not complying with the Nintendo Guidelines.”

When you consider the current AI-filled state of the eShop, the fact that these games have been banned is odd to say the least — all four games already released on the Japanese Nintendo eShop earlier this year, seemingly without issue.

What makes it even stranger is that Death end re;Quest: Code Z is still set to release for PS4 and PS5 next year, despite Sony having stricter guidelines when it comes to lewd anime content.

Will this signal the start of more games being rejected from Nintendo platforms as we near the company’s next console release? Perhaps, though it paints a bleak picture when combined with what’s already happening on PlayStation platforms and Steam.
