New Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai anime starts October 3 in Japan
The original Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai anime had its fans, but the series ended before fully adapting all of the manga. Aiming to rectify this, a new anime that covers the entire story will start airing October 3.
The Adventure of Dai may have been based on Dragon Quest, but in many ways it felt more like a Dragon Ball style series — ironic considering that Akira Toriyama didn’t actually work on the adaption. Dai is quite similar to Goku, and there are many transformations and flashy special attacks throughout the series.
You can get a taste for what the anime will look like with this new trailer, which also contains a short preview of the opening song.
While the new anime adaption of Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai starts airing next month in Japan, there’s currently no confirmation of an English release. Toei Animation, the studio behind this adaption, has been tweeting about it on their English Twitter account, so a localisation seems likely.
