NISA America have released a new trailer to show off Ys IX’s Monstrum, the protectors of Prison City Balduq.
Each Monstrum has their own unique gift that can be used to traverse environments, such as wall running and gliding.
Outside of these gifts, combat looks very similar to Ys VIII, promising fast paced battles and huge boss fights.
Ys IX launches on PS4 February 2 2021 in North America, and February 5 in Europe, with Switch and PC versions releasing later that year. A limited edition is also available, including various physical goodies like art cards and a short novel.
An overview of Ys IX via NIS America:
Renowned adventurer Adol “the Red” Christin and his companion Dogi arrive at Balduq, a city annexed by the Romun Empire, only for Adol to be detained before setting foot inside. While imprisoned, he meets a mysterious woman named Aprilis who turns him into a Monstrum, a being with supernatural Gifts and the power to exorcise monsters. Now, Adol must ally with his fellow Monstrum to fend off the fearsome threats emerging from a shadowy dimension called the Grimwald Nox, as well as unravel the mysteries of the Monstrum curse, and the truth behind the unrest within Balduq.
