Nintendo discontinuing Switch Game Vouchers from the end of January 2026
While Nintendo had already announced that Switch Game Vouchers would not be applicable to Switch 2 games, it seemed like they might still stick around. This is no longer the case.
From January 30, 2026, Switch Game Vouchers will no longer be available for purchase. Any vouchers bought by then will still work, though they’ll still have the 12 month expiration date. This means that after January 30, 2027, Game Vouchers will be completely unavailable.
At this time, there’s no news on whether Switch 2 Game Vouchers are currently being considered. With the current pricing for first party titles, any new system would likely be much more expensive than Switch 1. It also took a few years after the launch of the original Switch before vouchers were introduced as a Switch Online perk, so even if a Switch 2 equivalent is planned, it’ll still be a long while off.
