North American Magia Record server is closing after less than 2 years

Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story (try saying that three times fast) is the next mobile game to be axed in North America.

This comes soon after the closure of Symphogear XD UNLIMITED, another anime spin-off game that didn’t even last a year.

The news of Magia Record’s closure was tweeted out from the official English Twitter account, with the game coming to an end September 29. The official website gives more insight into how the game’s closure will be handled, and there’s one part that sticks out.

Magia stones, the paid gacha currency, are still going to be purchasable until September 10. Yes, instead of stopping all paid items immediately, they’re still letting people buy currency for a dying game. In fact, the initial tweet mentions that paid Magia Stones cannot be refunded at all.

This is not how you handle the closure of a game, especially one that has only been on the market for barely over a year. All it does is cause bad will towards the franchise, while also casting doubt on other mobile games under the same publisher.
