Once Upon a Katamari brings rolling weirdness back later this year

Bandai Namco has announced Once Upon a Katamari, a new entry in the Katamari Damacy series that’s set to launch 24 October 2025.

Coming to PS5, Xbox Series, Switch, and PC via Steam, Once Upon a Katamari tells another story of the Prince having to restore the sky after his father the King of All Cosmos has managed to destroy everything again.

He’s joined by even more cousins, with all of them having various customisation options. You can take your customised characters online to play against other players — while there’s no split-screen this time, you can play an offline version of this multiplayer mode against bots.

Oddly, despite Bandai Namco positioning Once Upon a Katamari as the first new Katamari Damacy game in 14 years, it’s actually the second original title to be releasing in the series this year. Katamari Damacy Rolling Live hit Apple Arcade in April, featuring its own set of unique stages and a story based around live streaming.
