Pikmin 4 to get free update next month (no, it’s not a Switch 2 performance patch)

Nintendo has announced that an update is coming to Pikmin 4 in November, adding in a handful of extra features. However, despite being months since the console launched, this is not a patch to improve performance on Switch 2.

This update instead adds in Decor Pikmin from Pikmin Bloom. These are essentially regular Pikmin with different decorations, some of which being new to Pikmin 4 specifically. Once found, you can transfer them over to Pikmin Bloom.

Other updates include a photo mode with the Field Camera, and two additional difficulty options — Relaxed mode where enemies no longer attack on sight, and Fierce mode which seemingly ups the amount of damage creatures deal.

It’s a strange update to release without anything on the Switch 2 side, though it does coincide with Ice Pikmin being added to Pikmin Bloom.
