PlayStation VR Sold Over 900,000 Units
It seems that PlayStation VR is doing remarkably well. Just in its first four months after launch it managed to sell over 900,000 units. We are sure there has got to be a DBZ joke somewhere here.
As of February 19, the number of sold PlayStation VR units is 915,000. This number might not seem much, especially once you take into account that there are over 53 million PlayStation 4 consoles out there, making the adoption ratio just under 2%. However, once you put it next to the HTC Vive which sold 420,000 and Oculus rift that managed to sell 234,000 you’ll see that PlayStation VR beat their combined sales in far less time.
This is what the President and Global CEO of Sony Computer Interactive Entertainment Andrew House had to say “Since its October launch, PS VR continues to be well received by people around the world thanks to the high quality, revolutionary VR experience it offers. With more than 53.4million. PS4 units sold through globally we firmly believe PlayStation VR will take the lead position in the VR market. We are increasing production to meet demand and will continuously support content developers as they create innovative VR experiences that are only possible on PlayStation.”
While VR is still in its infancy, there are already over 100 PlayStation VR titles out there. Games like Resident Evil VII showed us that it is possible to create amazing VR to AAA games and Ace Combat 7 promises to be one thrilling experience when it launches later this year. Some of the other anticipated VR titles that are on their way are Steel Combat, Tekken 7, Final Fantasy XV, Farpoint and Gran Turismo Sport.
