Pokémon TCG Pocket out now
The Pokémon Company has released Pokémon TCG Pocket, a free-to-play mobile game that offers a different take on the original card game.
Unlike the already available Pokémon TCG Live, Pokémon TCG Pocket is aimed more at collecting cards. You can open two packs of cards each day for free, with the game making use of its own original booster packs rather than ones based on the real card game.
Battling with AI and other players is still available, though in a new quicker format. Decks are made up of fewer cards (with no energy cards at all), with smaller hand sizes and easier to reach win conditions.
It’s an interesting spin on Pokémon TCG, potentially aimed at collectors rather than players. Packs are easy to obtain, and battling takes a backseat. For now there’s only one expansion to pull from — though this is split into three pack types — with more likely on the way soon.
