Purrfectly Ever After (Demo) First Impressions (Mobile)

Weeev has released a demo for their first otome game, Purrfectly Ever After! Whereas their previous demo was only available via iOS, this second demo is available across multiple platforms, including Mac, PC, iOS and Android. It is because of this that I was able to finally check out this game for myself! The demo was very short, but I thought I would share with you all my first impressions nonetheless. It certainly looks like a game otome fans need to take note of!

Purrfectly Ever After is an original otome game created by Weeev. It successfully reached its Kickstarter goal, which with the addition of stretch goals, came to an impressive $17,149 on July 26, 2015. It was also successfully Greenlit on Steam, which will be launched via Sekai Project when it is ready to be released. It is Weeev’s aim to create otome games on par with some of the biggest names in the otome gaming industry, which includes Voltage, Otomate and Rejet.

Purrfectly Ever After is set in a familiar, futuristic city and features a mischievous female cat called Pastel (name changeable). Pastel’s initial opinion of humans is pretty poor. At most, humans were simply obstacles to overcome during her precious food heists, but her impression quickly changes after some kindly humans save her from a troublesome situation. She realises that her cat burglar ways are putting her friends in danger, and so she makes a wish, a wish to become human and earn food honestly. Her prayers are answered by a Fairy Godfather on the condition that she will never steal again. Pastel now faces new challenges in her brand-new human body! Just what is a naked, born again cat-woman supposed to do in the middle of the night? Perhaps those kindly humans from before would be willing to help her again?

The game’s premise certainly makes for a dramatic, comedic setting! In the demo you play the first chapter of Sirius’ route. There are indeed some humorous moments, including Pastel posing as a nurse and licking a child’s face as a means of treatment! I have no idea how she gets away with that, but she does! From what I have seen, both Pastel and Sirius prove to be very entertaining characters. There are a couple errors here and there, as you would probably expect from an early demo (I personally do not like to see asterisks used as a way to portray sounds, it just does not feel professional to me), but overall I am very happy with this small glimmer of script.

I also have to say that the character portraits and background art are stunning. You seem to find beautiful artwork everywhere you turn in Purrfectly Ever After, even the settings screen gets a striking makeover! The Japanese voice acting is also done to an exceptionally high standard, with even minor characters receiving their own unique sounds. The game’s background music, of which you can listen to samples of from the Kickstarter page, can also boast of being high quality and very atmospheric.

Purrfectly Ever After looks to be off to a good start! I personally cannot wait to see how this game develops. If you would like to play the demo yourself, you can do so by choosing a download here. You can also find out more about the game from its Kickstarter and Tumblr pages. The game will be released via character stories (a common feature in otome apps), with Sirius’ full route planned for later this year. I look forward to following Purrfectly Ever After’s progress and learning more about its charming characters!

Spread the love!
