Rice Digital Easter Japan Sale: Game Low-Down

Some websites just whack up a list of [Holiday] Sale games and leave it at that. Which is fair enough. But that’s not really the way we do things here. That’s because not only are our sales good, but I am also personally invested in encouraging you to enrichen your lives with these video games. It’s a personal mission. Just like a missionary. A moe missionary.

So what have we got, then?

Asura’s Wrath (£10)

Somehow Asura’s Wrath got a little overlooked when it came out. A collaboration between Capcom and CyberConnect2 this is a game that’s really crazy like no other. It’s a quest for revenge that takes place in a Hindu/Buddhist mythology inspired science fiction world. And yes it’s as weird and bizarre as you’d imagine. And yes, it’s also very over the top. Nothing has really felt like this did. If you love anime games and haven’t played this you’re really missing out on a one of a kind experience!

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure All-Star Battle (£9.99)

Another CyberConnect2 game, and it’s just as good if not better! This is a very approachable and spectacular fighting games that is absolutely oozing with love and adoration for the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure franchise. From the slick and stylish menus right down the individuality of every fighter this is a game that’s really serious when it comes to JoJo. And, with a comprehensive story mode that takes you though the entire JoJo tale and a detailed encyclopedia, it could even be a great jumping on point if you’re wondering what JoJo is all about! As a JoJo fan I am absolutely in love with this game.

Dead Rising 2: Off the Record (£10)

Arguably this game is the pinnacle of the Dead Rising series, and maybe even zombie games across the board! While Dead Rising 2 made a lot of improvements to the first game, it did lack a certain “pizazz” that the original had. Luckily Dead Rising 2: Off the Record rectifies a lot of these issues, and also brings Frank West, the protagonist of the first game, back to the forefront. As usual this game is just terrific fun, and manages to feel fresh even in a market arguably oversaturated with not only zombie video games, but zombie media in general.

Short Peace: Ranko Tsukigime’s Longest Day (£9.99)

This 2D fast-paced side-scrolling action game will draw players deeper into the schoolgirl/assassin’s thrilling life, and serves as a video game tie-in to Katsuhiro Otomo’s four-part anime compilation film project, SHORT PEACE. POSSESSIONS, GAMBO, A Farewell to Weapons and COMBUSTIBLE are joined by the fifth and final part of the project; Ranko Tsukigime’s Longest Day. Not only do you get a cool game, you also get to experience the anime too. It’s not one to be missed by any anime fan!

Resident Evil 6 (£5)

The most recent numerical addition to the Resident Evil series might not have been the best received, but there are some people out there that claim it’s the best in the series. It’s perhaps unfairly overlooked as in many ways this does build on the formula that began with Resident Evil 4, bringing a lot of the gameplay into the modern era as you follow all your favourite Resident Evil characters through their own storylines. Also, like Resi 5, the mutliplayer co-op is very solid. There’s no way you won’t have fun with this for a fiver.

Deception IV: Blood Ties (£12)

Bizarrely it looks like this game is getting a sequel, even though it seemed like it was criminally overlooked on release. It’s a fantastic follow-up to Tecmo’s PSOne classic Devil’s Deception. It’s not dissimilar to Dungeon Siege in that you have to use trickery and strategy against your foes. Traps range from goofy to moderately grim! There’s not really much like it around at the moment, and it’s a great time to catch-up with the series.

Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z – Special Edition (£5)

It might not be Ninja Gaiden, but this zombie hack and slash starring the Ninja Gaiden villain Yaiba is a lot more fun that you might think. Risen from the dead and turned into a cyborg Yaiba is after revenge. His target? Ryu Hyabusa. Ninja Gaiden finesse isn’t as relevant here, instead challenging you with taking down hordes of zombies, and powered special zombies. It’s fun and the humor is crass and low-brow, but boy does it know it! Pick it up for a bargain price and you’re bound to enjoy it!

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 (£12)

This enhanced version of Ninja Gaiden 2 is exclusive to the PS3! What was, to some people, the best game in the stylish hack and slash genre is now packed with a whole lot more content, from new enemies and playable characters, to a brand new online co-op mode! This could be the ultimate Ninja Gaiden experience, for newcomers and fans alike! For me, this is  my favourite game in the series, and is one of my favourite stylish action games (the genre invented by the brilliant Devil May Cry) overall!

Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge (£15)

The enhanced version of Ninja Gaiden 3 that was once Wii U exclusive is now available on PS3 and Xbox 360, think of it as the “Sigma” of Ninja Gaiden 3! Ninja Gaiden 3 added a lot to the franchise, but the Razor’s Edge editon adds even more, making it the definitive way to play the game. The same classic, intense ninja fighting action is available here, but with a depth that should, arguably, have been in the game from the start. You can’t go wrong with Ninja Gaiden, and you can’t go wrong with this.
