Rune Factory 5 launching March 2022 in Europe, will include same-sex marriage
Marvelous Games has revealed that Rune Factory 5 is set to launch for the Switch in Europe on March 25, 2022. Furthermore, the western version will include same-sex relationships and marriage at launch.
In a new localisation blog, XSEED Games confirmed that same-sex marriage will be also be coming to the Japanese version via a patch. They also mention that this new feature did not delay the western release, with the French and German translations being the main reason why Rune Factory 5 is releasing here almost a year later.
This is the first time same-sex relationships have been included in a Rune Factory game, though most modern Story of Seasons titles have this feature. Ideally, future entries will include this without needing post-launch updates, though it’s still better late than never.
