SaGa Frontier Remastered announced for 2021

Square Enix has announced that the classic RPG SaGa Frontier is getting a remastered version. The original game came out back in 1997 on the PS1, so I think it’s fair to say there’ll be room to make a few improvements.

What, then, can we expect in the version of SaGa Frontier coming out next year? Square Enix says that as well as updated graphics, events and cutscenes, the 2021 release will include a new character, Fuse.

Fuse, a career cop, was intended to be a playable character in the original game, but was ultimately relegated to the role of recruitable sidekick. Given that SaGa Frontier’s main selling point was that each of its seven characters had different goals and a unique story, a new character counts as a pretty major addition.

SaGa Frontier Remastered is expected to release in the summer of 2021. It’s coming out on PC (via Steam), PS4, Switch, iOS and Android.
