Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin reaches 1 million units shipped
Marvelous announced today that Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin has now shipped 1 million units worldwide.
The 1 million total includes both physical shipments and digital sales on consoles and PC. Sales have been consitent during the game’s lifetime, with shipments having surpassed 500,000 copies late last year.
Marvelous also shared a message from Edelweiss, the development team behind Sakuna, which mentions that the initial target for sales was a humble 30,000.
On Twitter, @ovopack (the game’s main artist) also revealed a new piece of artwork to celebrate this new milestone.
After many years of development — and a few delays — Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin has become Edelwiess’ biggest success by far. According to an interview with Famitsu, the team would like to work on a sequel if possible, so more rice farming adventures could appear in the future.
