Samurai Shodown hits Steam on June 14, 3 days after Guilty Gear Strive

In an odd move, SNK has announced that Samurai Shodown will finally hit Steam on June 14. This puts it only three days after the launch of Guilty Gear Strive.

Samurai Shodown has actually been available on PC for a while now, releasing via the Epic Games Store last June — which also happened to be a year after it launched on consoles.

From the release date timing, it’s safe to assume that the game was a timed EGS exclusive for a year, leaving June 2021 as the earliest window it could possibly release on other PC storefronts. However, releasing it on Steam only days after Guilty Gear Strive (a game that actually has decent online play) still seems like a bad move.

Samurai Shodown Shiro

No pricing info has been revealed for the Steam release of Samurai Shodown, though we do know that Season Pass 3’s third character, Shiro Tokisada Amakusa, will also be releasing on June 14. With Shiro’s inclusion having already leaked via dataminers, the other prediction of Guilty Gear’s Baiken being the last Season Pass 3 character seems more and more likely. That would at least make the release timing seem slightly more sensible (kinda).
