Samurai Warriors series surpasses 8 million copies sold
Koei Tecmo revealed today that the Samurai Warriors series, which recently saw the release of a fifth mainline entry, has now sold over eight million copies worldwide.
The Samurai Warriors franchise has been on the go for nearly 20 years now, with the release of the original game back in 2014. The series, as with the long-running Dynasty Warriors franchise, has seen many releases overall — though Koei Tecmo seem a little more reserved with updated versions and spin-offs.
For those that picked up Samurai Warriors 5, the game’s first DLC pack released earlier this week. More DLC is scheduled for later this month on August 19, which includes more scenarios, weapons, and horses to choose from.
Another Koei Tecmo franchise (or rather, sub-series), Atelier Ryza, celebrated its own sales milestone earlier this year, with both games hitting a combined total of one million units sold.
