SMT III Nocturne HD Remaster Will Feature Dante From the Devil May Cry Series (as DLC)

Despite initial reveals for Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne HD Remaster only showing devil summoner Raidou as a guest character, Dante will also be making a return thanks to an optional DLC pack.

Fans of Nocturne in the west will likely be most familiar with Dante’s guest appearance, as Raidou only appeared in the Japanese exclusive Chronicle Edition of the game.

You’ve probably also seen the “Featuring Dante From The Devil May Cry Series” image, which was added to the EU box art of Nocturne (retitled Lucifer’s Call). It would be nice to think that the memes surrounding this image played at least some part in Dante’s return as DLC.

The Maniax Pack DLC will cost 980 yen, unlocking the “New Game ~Maniax~” mode. Choosing this mode will replace all scenes containing Raidou with Dante, including the opening movie on the title screen. Naturally, this mode will also let you recruit the devil hunter onto your team. It would have been cool to see both guest characters together in the same playthrough, but this is still a welcome addition to the remaster.

Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne HD Remaster will be released October 29th in Japan on both the PlayStation 4 and Switch, with the worldwide release following in spring 2021. There’s currently no price given for the English version of the DLC, though a tweet by Atlus West seemingly confirms that it will be released here as well.

Thanks to Gematsu for the DLC info.
