Sonic 3D animated series coming to Netflix in 2022

Netflix have announced (via a now deleted tweet) that Sonic the Hedgehog will be getting a 3D animated series in 2022.

Netflix stated that the series is being created by Sega, WildBrain and Man of Action Entertainment (thanks to SEGAbits for the screencap). Outside of that, and a 2022 release year, no other info was given.

With the tweet gone, we can only speculate on when this announcement was actually supposed to happen. There’s a high chance that Netflix were originally intending to tweet after an initial teaser during The Game Awards tonight, though Sega have been fairly quiet about the event.

Whatever the case, it’ll be a while before anything major is shown for the series. Sonic is no stranger to 3D animated shows, with Sonic Boom actually being well received by fans. Just ignore the game that released alongside it…
