Sonic Forces Bonus Edition Revealed: Includes Hideous Controller Skin & DLC Costumes

I would have gotten this post up sooner, but it’s hard to type as I cut my fingertips on all the edge that covers anything about Sonic Forces I see. This Sonic Forces Bonus Edition isn’t so extravagant, but does come with some goodies: like a hideous controller skin, and some possibly concerning DLC costumes.

The Switch and Xbox One versions also come with the skins and similarly hideous controller skins.

Honestly, this is one of the worst controller skins I’ve ever seen. But, somehow, it sort of encapsulates everything that weighs me down about Sonic Forces in general. It’s too brown and dark and gritty. Most of that controller is just gross, and includes awkwardly placed character artwork on the grips, one of Sonic frowning, and the other of an antagonist who is literally called Infinite and is hard to even see as they’re just as dark as the background. All using the box art’s key art of course.

The DLC skins are kind of nice, a compilation of outfits from Sega/Atlus games, all of which are probably much better than Sonic Forces will be. Skins and outfits in games are cool. But what’s pouring into my stomach here is the sense of dread from the existence of these “add-ons”.

Custom characters are a new thing just for this new game, and these outfits are for the custom characters. How much was adding them into the game spurred on by the possibility of adding paid DLC outfits and other customisation options to the game? Will there be a big old DLC train for Sonic Forces eventually? Maybe. And it doesn’t make me feel good.

Sonic Forces, as usual, continues to boggle the mind alongside the recently release to critical acclaim Sonic Mania. Which, by the way, launched with a super cool Collector’s Edition that came with some really cool retro styled goodies.

What is happening?

Sonic Forces releases 7th November 2017. If you really want this bonus edition, you can get it now.

Spread the love!
