Sonic joins season 2 of Ninjala

Having been teased earlier in the year, GungHo have announced that Ninjala‘s first collaboration will be with Sonic the Hedgehog.

The Switch exclusive arena fighter recently passed 4 million downloads, so such a high profile crossover doesn’t come as a surprise.

In fact, you may have seen mentions of Sonic items in Ninjala already. @LeanYoshi and @Oatme alDome datamined the game during its open beta, discovering various Sonic cosmetics in the process. This includes masks for Sonic, Tails and Knucles, though Season 2 will most likely included many more Sonic themed unlocks. Items were also found for potential Puzzles & Dragons and Tokyo 2020 Olympics collabs.

During the developer diary where this Sonic crossover was announced, GungHo also revealed the release date for Season 2. Starting August 26, the upcoming season will introduce boards, a new type of weapon. The video details the moves of two boards, including an ability that can go through walls.
