Sonic Mania announced by Sega
Sega is currently holding an event for the 25th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog where they’ve announced a brand new 2D title called Sonic Mania, and it looks great.
Sonic Mania is a new game that plays on our nostalgic love for the iconic blue hedgehog by re-imagining areas and levels from older games and mixing them with fresh, new levels. Sonic, Tails and Knuckles will be playable, and you can check out the trailer below!
Due sometime in 2017 as a digital-only title, Sonic Mania should please fans of the 2D Sonic games like myself and whilst I love many of the 3D adventures (Sonic Heroes is one of the best Sonic games and I refuse to hear otherwise!), it’s nice to know that we’ll be able to play a retro-inspired Sonic title that seems to stay faithful to the series’ origins.
