Sonic Mania’s Opening Is a Blast From the Past

With Sonic Mania’s release only a few days away, Sega graced us with a stunning opening animation for the title. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that this piece really gives a great omage to 90s Sonic cartoons.

We were immediately blown away by this fluid traditionally animated piece of Saturday cartoon nostalgia. Watch as Sonic, Tails and Knuckles join forces against evil robots lead by the sinister Dr. Robotnik. Beautifully animated and accompanied by fitting upbeat music, this is all it takes to get us stoked for Sonic Mania.

The title launches on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. It is set to release on 15th August, although the PC version will be delayed until the 29th for optimization reasons. Sega has announced that people that have pre-ordered the PC version of the title will get a free copy of the original Sonic the Hedgehog.
